AssureCheck™ Rapid biological indicator is a self-contained biological indicator used to monitor steam sterilization. It includes a sealed glass ampoule with a purple culture medium and spores, housed in a polypropylene tube with a medical grade paper filter. The product features a chemical indicator line printed with steam reactive ink which changes color from pink to brown when exposed to steam, providing a visual confirmation that the product has been subjected to the sterilization process. When incubated at 60°C, a color change from purple to yellow indicates the presence of living spores. If sterilization process is successful, the culture medium will remain purple after the incubation process. Additionally, fluorescence reading can provide results within 20 minutes by detecting the presence of viable spores with the use of appropriate incubators.
Self-contained biological indicators are used to verify the effectiveness of sterilization processes in healthcare and industry.
